In 2023, police in Vancouver responded to a “shots fired” call, finding one victim with gunshot wounds to his leg and another that later succumbed to his injuries. Subsequent search warrants revealed an illegal cannabis operation, roughly $1.5 million in cash, bank accounts and various properties. The “owners” had minimal to no legitimate income. FINTRAC disclosures showed placement and structuring. A series of UWO orders were issued in August 2025, the first in Canada.
